ONLINE PAYMENT OF DONATIONS TO THE CLUB

Click HERE to go to our secure, dedicated page and make payments direct to the club by credit or debit card. Doing so will not only be easier for you, it will enable the club to benefit from Gift Aid and thus make more efficient use of all donations.

As a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) we are entitled to claim Gift Aid on all donations to the club. This means that for each £1 donated to the club, the government will top this up by an additional 27 per cent. The only proviso is that the donor must be a UK tax payer and confirm as such.

This is an important concession and we should take advantage of it while the government’s generosity lasts.

Please fill in your details for our records. However, if you would prefer to remain anonymous then we would be grateful if you would contact club treasurer John Davies in confidence (email to john.davies@kier.co.uk) to let him know. Please use this system rather than sending a cheque as our gift aid claim is automated.

We cannot claim gift aid on subscriptions and match fees but we are allowed to take donations into account when setting the level of the subscriptions. The suggested donations to cover the club’s costs for the 2010 season are as follows:

Adults by match: League games: £10. Other games: £7.

Adults by season: £75.

Parents can also donate on behalf of their children. A donation of £105 will cover all the club's costs for a full year for each junior member. Alternatively, in addition to a suggested £15 donation per child to cover basic club costs, £50 will cover the cost of winter nets and coaching (£30 per brother/sister), £40 will cover summer nets and coaching (£25 per brother/sister), while we suggest a £3 donation per junior match. We suggest that juniors playing in adult matches contribute £5.

I hope this is clear. If you have any questions please contact John Davies.

INDOOR COACHING AND NETS

Sessions restart on Thursday 4 February at Bancroft's School. All sessions will be run by our team of 15 qualified coaches. New players welcome!
6-7pm: South Loughton Lions disability squad and under-9s (FUNdamentals programme)
7-8pm: under-11s and under-13s
8-9pm: under-15s and adults.

See above for suggested donations towards costs for junior members. Adults should make a donation of £5 per week, ideally paid online (although cash on the night will be accepted).

ABOUT OUR CLUB

We are a registered Community Amateur Sports Club and an officially recognised ECB 'Focus Club'. We like to think of ourselves as one of the most progressive medium-sized clubs in Essex.

Founded in 1938, we field two Saturday XIs in the Herts & Essex League. The 1st XI were Division 1 champions in 2007 and runners-up in 2009, while the 2nd XI play in Division 3. There is a link to the league's website towards the foot of this page. We also run Saturday 3rd and 4th XIs plus two Sunday XIs in which the emphasis is on social cricket and the development of young players.

We have a thriving junior section offering coaching and matchplay for children aged six upwards. We have 15 ECB-qualified and insured coaches. They, along with our team managers and volunteer helpers, hold enhanced CRB disclosures.

In May 2005 we were selected by the ECB as one of 51 clubs nationally to deliver a FUNdamentals programme for six- to nine-year-olds. This has proved extremely successful. Each summer we run a FUNdamentals League and Festival for this age group.

In March 2003 we became the fifth club in Essex (and only the twelfth nationally) to gain Sport England's prestigious 'Clubmark' accreditation, and have since been re-accredited. This demonstrates that we are, in the words of the citation, 'a safe, effective and child-friendly sports club'. We are also accredited at 'Gold' level in the Essex 'Club SX' scheme.

In 2003 we were highly commended in the Community Involvement category of the East London & Essex Business Awards, and in 2004 were awarded a Certificate of Merit. In 2004 we were also runners-up in the London Active Partnership's 'Club of the Year' awards.

We have a strong commitment to cricket for people with disabilities. In 2008 we became involved in 'Hit the Top', a pioneering project for young people with disabilities run by the charity Cricket4Change. We host ECB County Championship matches for the Essex Disability XI and the Essex inter-schools tournament, have staged an inter-county tournament and are operating a fully integrated coaching and matchplay programme. Click on the link towards the foot of this page to find out more.

We are very proud of our achievements, of our commitment to sports development within the community, and of the happy and harmonious atmosphere at our club. We hope to welcome you along.

FUNdamentals LEAGUE 2009

Results from the final dramatic double-header evening:

Wanstead Tigers 236-4 (7pts) beat South Loughton Pumas 220-3 (4pts)
South Loughton Cougars 244-3 (8pts) beat Loughton 217-4 (3pts)
Wanstead Lions 275-3 (9pts) beat Thomas Willingale School 249-5 (5pts)

Thomas Willingale School 267-4 (7pts) beat Loughton 239-1 (5pts)
Wanstead Tigers 228-3 (8pts) beat Staples Road School 206-7 (2pts)
Wanstead Lions 247-5 (9pts) beat South Loughton Cougars 246-4 (6pts)

FINAL TABLE:
Thomas Willingale School Pts 43
Wanstead Lions Pts 43
Wanstead Tigers Pts 42
South Loughton Cougars Pts 32
South Loughton Pumas Pts 32
Staples Rd School Pts 29
Loughton Pts 25

This was easily the closest competition yet. Commiserations to both Wanstead teams, who finished in storming style, but the rules state that teams are first separated according to number of wins. Thomas Willingale School won five out of six games, Wanstead Lions four out of six (despite actually beating Thomas Willingale School). So Thomas Willingale School are champions for the second time.

The Harold Faragher Trophy will be presented at our FUNdamentals Festival Day on August 27, when we plan to have an extended competition including teams from our ‘Hit the Top’ disability cricket programme.

Most important of all, we hope everyone enjoyed the competition despite the occasionally poor weather. Sincere thanks to all team managers and helpers, to Kevin Latchford who co-ordinated the event from the South Loughton end, and to Mauneen van der Merwe and all the enthusiastic young leaders from Davenant school.

Disability cricket at South Loughton

South Loughton CC is one of the pioneers of disability cricket in Essex, in partnership with the charity Cricket4Change.

The programme, entitled 'Hit the Top', involves coaching in schools; an inter-schools tournament, held in July and won by Trinity School from Dagenham; and the development of a disability section within the club.

The aim for 2010 is to create a unique junior disability league with three other clubs.

The London Disability XI also uses the club for its ECB County Championship matches. Pictured are the London and Warwickshire teams before their game in May 2009.
